Creating Your Tutor Listing

How do I create a tutor ad?

Start by creating a tutor account from the tutor registration page.

After signing up, you can complete your tutor ad with information such as:

  • subjects and levels taught
  • tutoring rate
  • teaching experience
  • teaching style
  • region or location
  • lesson modes
  • profile description.

A detailed profile can help students and parents decide whether your experience matches what they are looking for before contacting you.

What should I include in my tutor bio?

Your bio should help a student or parent understand who you teach and how you teach.

Useful information can include:

  • your teaching or tutoring experience
  • subjects and academic levels you teach
  • your approach to lessons
  • the types of students you commonly support
  • relevant qualifications or experience
  • whether you provide your own materials
  • your preferred lesson modes
  • anything else genuinely relevant to your tutoring
Can I choose which subjects and levels I teach?

Yes. Your listing should reflect the subjects and academic levels you offer.

Being specific helps students find more relevant tutors and reduces enquiries for subjects you do not teach.

If your teaching scope changes, update your listing so that your public profile remains accurate.

Can I set my own tutoring rate?

Yes. Tutors set their own rates.

Choose a rate that reflects factors such as the subject, academic level, your experience and the type of tuition you provide.

The final lesson fee and any related payment arrangements should be agreed directly between you and the student or parent before lessons begin.

Does TutorsNearMeSG take a commission from my lesson fees?

TutorsNearMeSG does not collect lesson fees on your behalf or take a percentage of the lesson fee agreed between you and your student.

Lesson payments and payment arrangements are handled directly between tutors and students or parents.

Any optional paid platform feature, such as a Featured listing, is separate from the tuition fee you charge your students.

Tutor Ad Approval

Will my tutor ad appear publicly immediately?

Not necessarily.

New tutor ads may require admin approval before appearing publicly in the directory.

Moderation helps reduce spam, inappropriate content and listings that do not meet the platform's requirements.

While your listing is awaiting review, it may remain in a pending state rather than appearing publicly.

Why does TutorsNearMeSG review tutor ads?

Listing moderation helps keep the directory useful for students and parents.

A listing may be reviewed for issues such as:

  • spam or irrelevant content
  • inappropriate material
  • misleading information
  • prohibited content
  • incomplete or unusable listings; or
  • other issues that conflict with the platform's requirements.

Approval of a listing should not be interpreted as TutorsNearMeSG guaranteeing a tutor's qualifications, teaching quality or suitability for a particular student.

Tutors remain responsible for making sure the information they publish is accurate.

What happens if my tutor ad is rejected?

A rejected listing can be revised and resubmitted.

Review the information in your ad, correct the relevant issues and submit it again. The listing will return to pending review until it has been checked.

Repeatedly submitting misleading, inappropriate or prohibited content may result in further moderation under the platform's rules.

Does approval mean TutorsNearMeSG has verified my qualifications?

No.

Approval means your listing has passed the platform's moderation process for publication. It should not be interpreted as independent verification of every qualification, experience claim or other statement on your profile unless a particular item is explicitly marked as verified.

Tutors should provide accurate information and should not claim qualifications, experience or results they do not have.

Managing Your Tutor Listing

Can I edit my tutor ad after it has been approved?

Yes.

After your initial ad has been approved, you can update your profile information from the Edit Ad page.

You may want to update your listing when:

  • your availability changes
  • you add or stop teaching a subject
  • your tutoring rate changes
  • you offer a new lesson mode
  • your teaching experience changes; or
  • information in your bio is no longer accurate.

Listings may still be subject to moderation when necessary.

Can I hide my tutor ad myself?

Yes.

If your schedule is full, you are taking a break from tutoring, or you simply do not want to receive new enquiries for a period, you can hide your public ad from the Edit Ad page.

You can make it visible again later when you are ready to accept enquiries.

This is usually better than leaving an outdated listing visible when you know you are unavailable.

Should I update my profile when my availability changes?

Yes.

Keeping your profile current reduces unnecessary enquiries and gives students and parents more reliable information when comparing tutors.

If you are temporarily not accepting students, consider hiding your listing until you have availability again.

Can I change my tutoring rate later?

Yes. If your platform currently allows the rate to be edited through Edit Ad, you can update it when your pricing changes.

Make sure the rate displayed on your profile reflects what prospective students can reasonably expect, and confirm the final lesson fee directly with the student or parent before lessons begin.

Student Enquiries and Messages

How do students contact me?

Students and parents can contact you through your tutor profile on TutorsNearMeSG.

Enquiries are saved in your account messages and, where supported, notifications may also be sent to your registered email address.

Check your account and registered email regularly when your tutor listing is active so you do not miss genuine enquiries.

What information will I receive in an enquiry?

The information available should always contain the student's name, email address, phone number, preferred location, subject, date and note.

Do I have to accept every student who contacts me?

No.

An enquiry is a request to discuss tuition, not a confirmed lesson.

You can decide whether you are available and whether the student's subject, level, schedule, location and needs are suitable for the tutoring you offer.

If you cannot take the student, a short and courteous response can help them continue their search.

How quickly should I respond to enquiries?

There is no requirement to be available at all times, but responding within a reasonable period can improve the student's experience and reduce the chance that they arrange lessons with another tutor first.

If you are no longer accepting students, hide your listing rather than continuing to receive enquiries you cannot accommodate.

Does TutorsNearMeSG arrange the lesson for me?

No.

TutorsNearMeSG provides the directory and enquiry tools, but lesson arrangements are made directly between the tutor and the student or parent.

You should agree on details such as:

  • lesson rate
  • lesson duration
  • schedule
  • frequency
  • lesson mode or location
  • payment method
  • cancellation or rescheduling expectations.

Make these arrangements clear before the first lesson.

Lesson Payments and Arrangements

Who collects payment for tuition lessons?

Tutors arrange and receive lesson payments directly from their students or parents.

TutorsNearMeSG does not act as the payment intermediary for ordinary lesson fees.

You and the student should agree on the payment method and timing before lessons begin.

Can I teach online as well as face-to-face?

If the lesson modes available on your listing support both options, you can indicate the types of tuition you offer.

Only select lesson modes you are genuinely willing and able to provide so students can filter and contact appropriate tutors.

Who decides where lessons take place?

The tutor and student or parent agree on the lesson location or online arrangement.

For face-to-face tuition, discuss the general location before accepting the student and exchange exact details only when needed to arrange the lesson.

Who decides the cancellation policy?

Because tutors manage their own tutoring arrangements, cancellation and rescheduling expectations should be agreed directly with students or parents.

It is a good idea to make your expectations clear before regular lessons begin, particularly regarding late cancellations or missed lessons.

Tutor Reviews

Do reviews appear automatically?

No.

Reviews are reviewed before appearing publicly to help reduce spam, inappropriate content and obvious misuse of the review system.

Moderation does not necessarily mean TutorsNearMeSG has independently verified every statement or opinion contained in a review.

Can a negative review appear on my profile?

A review should not be removed merely because it is critical if it otherwise complies with the platform's review rules.

Constructive reviews can help prospective students understand different experiences, while moderation can be used to address content that violates platform requirements.

If you believe a review is fake, abusive or otherwise violates the platform's rules, use the available reporting or contact process to raise the issue for review.

Featured Tutor Listings

What is a Featured ad?

A Featured ad is an optional listing upgrade that gives your tutor profile greater visibility and richer profile features.

Featured ads are listed on the front page, receive Featured styling in tutor results, can include a profile picture and up to five past student outcome highlights,. Existing student reviews also remain visible on the tutor profile.

Featured costs $60 per month or $600 per year, with the yearly option including two months free compared with monthly billing.

Does Featured guarantee that I will get students?

No.

A Featured listing can improve visibility, but it cannot guarantee enquiries, students, lesson bookings or income.

Whether a student contacts a tutor can depend on many factors, including subject, level, rate, location, availability, profile quality and the student's individual preferences.

Tutors should treat Featured as a visibility feature rather than a guarantee of results.

Privacy and Safety

Is my email address shown publicly?

No. Unless you choose to write your contact information in the tutor ad itself, messages sent through the platform will not reveal your personal contact information publicly.

What should I do about suspicious enquiries?

Use caution if an enquiry involves unusual payment requests, unnecessary requests for personal information, suspicious links or behaviour unrelated to genuine tuition arrangements.

Do not provide sensitive information simply because someone has contacted you through a tutoring platform.

If an enquiry appears to be spam, fraudulent, abusive or otherwise inappropriate, stop engaging and contact admin@tutorsnearmesg.com.

How can I make my tutor profile more useful to students?

A strong tutor profile should quickly answer three questions:

What do you teach?

Be specific about subjects, levels and syllabuses.

Why might you be suitable for this student?

Explain your relevant experience and teaching approach rather than relying on vague claims.

What can the student expect from lessons?

Describe how you normally identify weaknesses, explain concepts, structure practice or provide feedback.

Keep your information accurate and update your profile as your availability, rates or teaching scope changes.
