Experienced IB Maths and Science Tuition at Pioneer

I provide structured and personalised tuition for IB Mathematics and Science, with a focus on helping students build strong conceptual understanding and become more confident applying what they have learnt to IB-style questions. I teach IB Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at both SL and HL levels. Lessons can be adapted to each student’s current syllabus coverage, school pace and areas of difficulty, whether they need help strengthening their foundations, keeping up with classwork or preparing for assessments and final examinations. My teaching approach focuses on understanding rather than simply memorising formulas or model answers. For Maths and Science subjects in particular, I help students understand why a method works, recognise which concepts are relevant to a question, and develop a clear step-by-step approach to solving unfamiliar problems. Lessons involve: • Identifying weaker topics and gaps in understanding • Explaining difficult concepts in a clear and intuitive way • Working through examples together before progressing to independent practice • Practising IB-style and past-paper questions • Reviewing mistakes and identifying recurring problem areas • Developing effective exam techniques, working structure and time management For IB Mathematics, I place particular emphasis on problem-solving, mathematical reasoning and selecting the appropriate method for unfamiliar questions. For Physics and Chemistry, lessons focus on connecting theoretical concepts with calculations, data-based questions and their application in examination problems. Students may also bring questions from school lessons, homework, tests or past papers that they would like to review. Additional practice can be selected according to the student’s weaker topics and upcoming assessments. For students preparing for IB examinations, lessons can progressively shift towards timed practice, past-paper questions and targeted revision of weaker areas. I can also provide guidance on approaching Internal Assessment work, including mathematical or scientific reasoning, structure and methodology, while ensuring that the student's submitted work remains their own. My aim is to provide a patient and supportive learning environment where students are comfortable asking questions and can gradually become more independent and confident in Maths and Science.
