One of the reasons I chose engineering is because I enjoy understanding how things work. Whether it's electricity, mechanics or mathematics, there's always a logical explanation behind every concept—and that's exactly how I teach. I'm Sicheng, a Renewable Energy Engineering undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a passion for helping students overcome subjects that often feel intimidating. I work with Secondary, Junior College and Polytechnic students, simplifying difficult Mathematics and Physics topics into smaller, manageable ideas that students can build upon with confidence. Instead of rushing straight into practice papers, I prefer making sure students understand the underlying concepts first. Once those foundations are in place, even the toughest examination questions become much less daunting. Those experiences taught me that good teaching isn't about giving complicated explanations—it's about knowing how to explain the same idea in three different ways until it finally clicks. Lessons are interactive and discussion-based, so students are encouraged to stop me whenever something doesn't make sense. I'd much rather spend ten extra minutes making sure a concept is fully understood than simply finishing another worksheet.
