Mathematics Is Like Music — Master the Fundamentals, and Everything Else Becomes Easier
Why I Teach I'm Wei Jian, a Year 3 undergraduate at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) who believes that confidence in Mathematics comes from understanding the fundamentals—not memorising shortcuts. Outside the classroom, I'm also a passionate violinist and music educator. Although Mathematics and music seem very different, they've taught me the same lesson: meaningful improvement comes through patience, consistency and learning why something works before trying to perform it under pressure. Whether you're preparing for your next weighted assessment or aiming for an A at O-Levels or A-Levels, I want every lesson to leave you feeling more confident than when you arrived.

Lessons are suitable for students rebuilding their foundations, preparing for examinations or aiming to tackle more challenging questions confidently. Every lesson begins by identifying the concepts that need the most attention before moving on to progressively more challenging questions. Rather than rushing through worksheets, I encourage students to explain their thinking, recognise common examination traps and develop logical problem-solving strategies that can be applied independently. Students receive concise summary notes, curated practice papers, topic-based worksheets and regular reviews to reinforce what they've learnt. Additional support is also available between lessons whenever students need clarification on schoolwork or revision questions.
